Prof. Eka J. Wahjoepramono MD, Phd

​

Prof. Eka is one of the top three neurosurgeon in Indonesia. He got his first degree as a general practitioner in 1983 and continued to study neurosurgery in Bandung. And since 2010, he has handled thousands of patients, not only from Indonesia, but also from other countries. He also contributed in developing Trans Clival, a neurosurgery technique via nostrils. He also made a revolutionary step by doing a brainstem surgery in Siloam Hospital, that is still considered as the hardest surgery compared to the others, especially in Indonesia. Because of that achievement, he became the first doctor to get an award from MURI ( Museum Rekor Indonesia). He is now the Dean of Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Pelita Harapan, as well as the Head of Neurosurgery in Siloam Hospital in Karawaci, Tangerang.

Thomas Santarius MD, Phd

Dr. Thomas Santarius is known simply as Tom by his colleagues and patients, and works as a consultant neurosurgeon in Addenbroke's Hospital, the main hospital of Cambridge’s University Hospitals in United Kingdom. He trained in neurosurgery in Cambridge  himself and in genetics of cancer at Harvard and Sanger Institute. His clinical practice is focused in surgical treatment of complex brain tumours in adults and children, including intraventricular, brainstem pineal. His practise includes pituitary and skull base surgery utilising both open and endoscopic techniques, as appropriate. He leads low-grade glioma programme with intraoperative mapping and monitoring in awake and anaesthetised patients. Doctors in Addenbroke, including Mr. Santarius himself is one of the first doctors to use the technology of real-time 3D-HD visualisation systems in the operating theatres. He believes that good understanding and knowledge of anatomy is vital for safe neurosurgery and in 2005 he co-founded Cambridge Lectures in Neurosurgical Anatomy.

Prof. Vladimir Benes

Dr. Vladimir Benes Jr. is a son of a neurosurgeon, an environment which inspired him to spend his life in the same field of study. He went to the army hospital and became a soldier, and retired on 2013 as a colonel. He also became the chairman of the committee for Surgical Disciplines, Scientific Board of the Ministry of Health in Czech Republic. He is now the president of EANS (European Association of Neurosurgical Societies). Previously, he was involved in many large trials such as CRASH, STICH, ACST, ISAT,and ARC. His latest research areas are focused in Vascular and Oncology. And currently he is also the Chairman in the department of Neurosurgery, First Medical Faculty, in Charles University, as well as the Chief of Neurosurgery in Central Military Hospital and the Head of Neurosurgery in the Postgraduate Medical Institute, which is all based in the Central Military Hospital in Prague.
